We have taken the steps and adopted the practices to become a Lubbock Safe business in order to best protect both our employees and the families we serve. Car Seat Assistance -The agency has received approval to begin offering the Car Seat Assistance program again. Classes on the use and installation of the car seats will resume in June.
Reservations for the classes begin on May 3rd. The number and sizes of classes will be reduced. Parents need to have their child’s height and weight to register for the classes.
Expecting a Baby? Prenatal Classes -next session begins on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 @ 12:00 PM with a limit of 12 parents attending. For more information see Expecting a Baby under the Programs tab.
Activity Hour- Join us on our Facebook page @ 10:00 AM on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM for “Oh Watermelons.”
Parenting Toolkit – evening parent education classes – next session begins on Monday, April 26, 2021 @ 5:30 PM. Registration is required prior to attending. For more information see Community Parenting Classes under the Programs tab.
Smart Start – a once a month virtual evening parent group that explores a different topic each month. Next session is Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 5:30 PM. Topic: “Child Safety” with Guest Speakers from UMC Trauma Team. This is a ZOOM virtual presentation and requires registration. For more information call the Parenting Cottage at (806) 795-7552 to register. Meets evidence based mandatory parent education requirements.
Bookworm Buddies – a community wide Virtual Storytime and Book Distribution program. Helps you build a home library for your child. Check the Bookworm Buddies tab under Programs to learn more. April’s Bookworm Buddies is on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM and the book is “Little Raindrop”. A collaborative effort with the City of Lubbock Water Department.

Community Storytime Events:
The Parenting Cottage collaborates with the City of Lubbock Libraries including Mahon, Godeke, Groves and Patterson Branches to provide monthly Storytime events. Masks are not required in City of Lubbock facilities.
Monthly Storytimes with Wolfforth Library are now in person. Social distancing and limited attendance is in effective.
